Down, Stripped Out
And Handed Back

Defence estates, hospitals, rail, national retail, council land, farms and private homes. Each example below sets out the kind of site we are called to in that sector and the standard it is handed back to.

The work we are brought in to do

Site photography is being collated and will be published here. Until then, these written summaries describe the type of work carried out in each sector and how sites are handed back, rather than individual documented projects.

MOD and RAF estate works

The situation

Redundant defence estate buildings on a live, security-controlled site, with restricted access hours and adjacent operational buildings that had to stay in use throughout.

How we handle it

Structures taken down in a planned sequence, arisings segregated on site, and the footprint left clear and level for the client's follow-on works. Full RAMS, permits and waste documentation issued.

Service used: Industrial & commercial demolition

NHS estate strip-out and demolition

The situation

Redundant healthcare accommodation requiring careful strip-out with occupied buildings and public routes close by, plus asbestos-containing materials identified at survey.

How we handle it

Non-licensed asbestos removed in-house and licensed items handled through our specialist partner, then the building stripped back to structure ready for the principal contractor's programme.

Service used: Commercial soft strip

FedEx depot, Newcastle

The situation

Commercial depot structures needing removal without interrupting neighbouring logistics operations or blocking vehicle circulation.

How we handle it

Demolition phased around the depot's working hours, hardcore crushed for reuse where suitable, and the site handed back clear for redevelopment.

Service used: Industrial & commercial demolition

Nexus Rail works

The situation

Rail infrastructure environment with third-party safety constraints, limited possession windows and services requiring isolation before any breaking out.

How we handle it

Works planned to the possession programme with supervision by CCDO Gold supervisors, isolations confirmed in writing, and the area released on time.

Service used: Decommissioning & tank removal

Corby Castle, Carlisle

The situation

Sensitive historic estate setting where redundant structures had to be removed without damage to retained fabric, ground or planting.

How we handle it

Hand and machine demolition combined to protect adjacent retained structures, with materials removed off site and access routes reinstated.

Service used: Domestic demolition

National retail units, Next and TK Maxx

The situation

Trading retail schemes where redundant fit-outs needed stripping to shell inside tight overnight and weekend windows, with shoppers on site by opening.

How we handle it

Shopfits stripped back to shell and core, waste removed through licensed facilities, and units handed to the incoming fit-out contractor without a missed trading hour.

Service used: Commercial soft strip

Local authority clearance contracts

The situation

Council-owned properties and land affected by fly-tipping, accumulated waste and unsecured redundant buildings.

How we handle it

Sites cleared, waste segregated and recycled through a licensed facility with transfer notes returned, and open structures made secure.

Service used: Waste management

Farm and industrial building clearance

The situation

Redundant agricultural and industrial buildings with contaminated ground, buried obstructions and unsuitable material preventing development.

How we handle it

Contaminated material removed and disposed of correctly, concrete and masonry crushed on site for reuse as fill, and levels prepared for the next stage of development.

Service used: Land remediation

Fire and storm damage call-outs

The situation

Structures left dangerous after fire or high winds, with public highway, neighbouring property or insurers' access at risk.

How we handle it

Attended following a 24/7 call, structure made safe, debris cleared so loss adjusters and surveyors could get on site, and the area left secure.

Service used: Emergency response
